Recognised by President Halimah Yacob and Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, our lauded partnership – fully supported and funded by the IMDA, Nexus and Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been praised by many in Singapore’s pursuit of a Smart Nation. Through events like the ECDA Early Childhood exhibition fair (where we got to work with Preschool Principals on incorporating Coding into their curriculum) as well as NLB’s kidsREAD programme, we introduce children to computational thinking and spread awareness of its importance in today’s digital economy.
Student ambassadors are also awarded a National certificate by the IMDA. They also secure community service hours which are crucially needed when applying for prestigious Ivy League universities – giving you the additional edge to gain a place like our student Sarah, who gained a full scholarship for her Computer Engineering degree in the USA!

Since 2014, the Smart Nation initiative has been transforming and bettering Singapore’s government, businesses and society with digital technology. We are thrilled to be at the forefront of building a strong digital nation and hope to play our part in engaging Singaporeans with our workshops to keep their interest in tech very much alive and fuel their desire to learn more. Staying true to our mission of nurturing future leaders of technology, we have conducted Scratch workshops for young children and are proud to do more as part of the #smartnationtogether series!
Coding Lab is proud to be invited by Smart Nation Singapore to conduct exciting programming sessions for people from all walks of life through the PMO Series. We are also thrilled to be identified as one of Singapore’s key industry leaders in technology when we were 1 of the 30 participants invited to the Smart Nation & U 2021 launch speech by DPM Heng Swee Keat. We will continue to work towards supporting the country’s efforts towards building an inclusive Smart Nation.

For two years running, Coding Lab is honoured to be invited as the Official Training Partner for Shopee’s Code League! As the Data Science and Analytics experts, we were engaged to helm the training sessions on Python, Object-Oriented Programming, and Data Science. Our dedicated tutors trained more than 3,000 code league participants and taught topics ranging from Pandas, SciPy to Analytics and Statistics.
Supported by the IMDA and Smart Nation Singapore, the Shopee Code League online coding challenge consists of a series of competitions, online algorithm questions and online training workshops open to all students and professionals across the region. Thank you to Shopee for continually trusting us and our passionate educators to bring the joys of coding to talented coders from all over the region. We hope our participants were able to upskill themselves and grow in their coding abilities, and we wish everyone all the best in the largest online code league in the region!

Coding Lab is always excited to partner with the industry. We held a three-day workshop for OCBC Bank’s 50 aspiring young talents, where participants picked up Python and Data Analytics. They brought their ideas to life with code, coming up with fantastic projects in their hackathon, such as a Housing Pricing trend analysis, Stroke Predictor, Dengue Hotspot app, and even analysed box office blockbuster sales. We know that the skills they picked up will certainly come in handy in their career and lives. Here’s to great world-changing projects – one coder at a time!

We were thrilled to be invited by the National University of Singapore to organise a series of Python coding workshops for their undergraduates. These lucky undergraduates even got to speak to our tech advisor, Li Jia (also an ex-NUS Computer Science student), who is now based in New York, where he shared more on his job and programming challenges as a VP at Credit Suisse. We firmly believe that coding is the new literacy and are glad to have been able to impart the necessary skills and knowledge in Python that would be useful in the future.

40 enthusiastic young coders at Cisco underwent a 30-hour camp with us over Summer. They coded many cool games and presented their creations to their parents at a pizza party on the last day! We are excited to have given them a head start in this digital age, allowing them to make their own creations whilst getting acquainted with the basics of coding.

It was a fun-filled family day at Zendesk, where we conducted workshops (pre-vetted by their programmers, of course!) for children aged 4 to 12. The younger ones got to program a robot, design and construct Strawbees whilst the older kids learnt the visual programming language of Scratch, giving them an exciting introduction into the world of coding.
